The Storm Starts '08 Season Off Strong in April The Algonquin Storm 11u is coming off of a strong 2007 finish that included playing in the MSBL Championship, and capturing first place in the Winfield tournament (see below).It was another wet and cold April with some rainouts. But the Storm put together an overall 8-2 record that included a championship trophy in Vernon Hills (see story at right). The Storm went 4-2 in MSBL league play, hosting teams from Elk Grove, Arlington Hts, Norwood Park and Lake in the Hills... and traveling to Libertyville and Rolling Meadows. Storm Brings Home 1st Place in Vernon Hills The Storm went to Vernon Hills over the April 26 weekend to play in the 4th Annual Cougar Kickoff 11u tournament. The team went 3-0 in bracket play beating teams from Arlington Hts., Aurora and Lk. Zurich. That record advanced them directly to the final where they met the Richmond Rockets--also 3-0. With sound pitching, great hitting and all-around team efforts, the Storm won the championship game 10-0.  |
